What our customers say

Real experiences from people who play our lyre harps daily.
Angela R.
I use this lyre in my sound healing practice every single day. The pentatonic tuning means every note harmonizes beautifully. My clients leave sessions feeling completely reset. A truly therapeutic instrument.

Daniel H.
I gave up on learning guitar years ago. The lyre harp was different. No wrong notes, instant beautiful sound. Within a week I was playing full melodies. This instrument gave me back my musical confidence.

Daniel H.

Maria C.
The wood craftsmanship is outstanding and the mahogany tone is warm and full-bodied. It looks like it belongs in a fairy tale. I recommend this to anyone serious about sound healing or looking for a meaningful gift.

F.A.Q.

No musical experience is needed. The lyre harp is widely considered one of the easiest stringed instruments to learn. Here is why:

  • Pentatonic models (7-8 strings) are tuned so that every note harmonizes with every other note. It is literally impossible to play a "wrong" combination. You simply pluck and it sounds beautiful.
  • Diatonic models (10-19 strings) follow a natural major scale (typically C major). If you can hum a melody, you can play it on these lyres within days.
  • No reading music required. Most beginners learn through tablature (numbered strings) or by ear. Many customers tell us they play simple melodies within the first hour of unboxing.

Every lyre harp we sell includes a tuning wrench and a learning guide so you can start playing immediately. If you have never touched an instrument before, we recommend starting with a 7 or 8-string pentatonic model for the most forgiving and rewarding experience.

We offer lyre harps from 7 strings up to 31 strings. The right choice depends on your goals, experience level, and how you plan to use the instrument:

7-8 Strings (Pentatonic) - Meditation, Sound Healing & Absolute Beginners

  • Tuned to a pentatonic scale where every note harmonizes naturally. No wrong notes possible.
  • Perfect for sound healing sessions, meditation backgrounds, and relaxation.
  • Compact and lightweight - easy to hold and travel with.
  • Ideal if you want to play intuitively without learning music theory.
  • Our 7-string models start at $99.90 and our 8-string Moon designs at $109.90.

10-11 Strings - Beginners Who Want More Range

  • Slightly wider tonal range than 7-string while staying beginner-friendly.
  • Great stepping stone if you want more melody options without feeling overwhelmed.
  • Still very forgiving for improvisation and free-form playing.

15-17 Strings (Diatonic) - Most Popular Choice

  • 16-string is our best-seller with 13 models to choose from. Full C-major diatonic scale with roughly 2 octaves of range.
  • Enough notes to play recognizable melodies, folk songs, hymns, and modern covers.
  • 17-string adjustable models let you switch between tunings for even more versatility.
  • The sweet spot between simplicity and musical expression. Recommended for hobbyists, casual players, and anyone who wants to learn songs.
  • Price range: $89.90 to $219.90 depending on wood type and features.

19-21 Strings - Intermediate Players & Therapists

  • Wider range allows more complex compositions, arpeggios, and richer harmonies.
  • Preferred by music therapists who need broader note selection for client sessions.
  • Our 19-string models include beautiful deer, angel, and rose designs from $109.90 to $199.90.
  • 21-string options available in wood and crystal (ABS-PC) materials.

23-27 Strings - Advanced & Professional

  • Near-chromatic range for advanced repertoire and professional performances.
  • Models with sharping levers allow you to change keys on the fly without retuning.
  • Premium woods and construction for superior projection and sustain.
  • Our 23-string lever harp ($769.90) and 19-string Irish lever harp ($639.90) are for serious players.

31 Strings - Full Professional Range

  • Maximum versatility with the widest note range in our collection.
  • Suitable for concert performance, studio recording, and advanced composition.
  • Available in premium tonewoods including African Yellow Sandalwood and North American Hard Maple.

Quick recommendation: If this is your first lyre and you want it mainly for relaxation and sound healing, start with 7-8 strings. If you want to learn and play songs, go with 16 strings. If you are an experienced musician or therapist, consider 19+ strings.

Tuning your lyre harp is straightforward. Here is the complete process:

What you need:

  • The tuning wrench included with your lyre (also called a tuning hammer).
  • A free chromatic tuner app on your phone (we recommend GuitarTuna or Pano Tuner). Simply pluck a string and the app tells you if it is sharp, flat, or in tune.

How to tune:

  1. Place the tuning wrench on a tuning pin.
  2. Pluck the corresponding string while watching your tuner app.
  3. Turn the pin very gently - small turns make big pitch changes. Clockwise tightens (raises pitch), counter-clockwise loosens (lowers pitch).
  4. Repeat for each string. Most lyres are tuned to C major (C-D-E-F-G-A-B) starting from the longest string.

The break-in period (very important):

New strings will go out of tune frequently for the first 1-2 weeks. This is completely normal for any stringed instrument. The strings need time to stretch and the tuning pins need to settle into the wood.

  • During the first week, tune your lyre once or twice per day, even if you are not playing. This helps the strings settle faster.
  • Do not be discouraged if it goes out of tune between sessions at first. This is expected and temporary.
  • After 1-2 weeks of regular tuning, your lyre will hold its pitch beautifully, often for days between sessions.
  • Pro tip: Turn the pins slowly and gently. Overtightening is the #1 cause of broken strings on new lyres.

Full tuning instructions with diagrams are included with every order.

Absolutely - the lyre harp is one of the most effective instruments for sound healing. Here is why practitioners and wellness enthusiasts around the world choose it:

The science behind it:

  • Lyre harps produce frequencies in the 200-2,000 Hz range - the mid-range that our nervous system responds to most positively.
  • These frequencies naturally stimulate alpha brain waves (8-12 Hz), the same brain state associated with deep relaxation, meditation, and creative flow.
  • Studies on harp therapy show that listening to or playing harp music can lower cortisol levels, slow heart rate, and reduce anxiety.

Historical roots:

In ancient Greece and Egypt, lyres were prescribed therapeutically. Patients received healing by listening to modal scales played on a lyre. The tradition of using stringed instruments for healing spans thousands of years across cultures.

Best lyre for sound healing:

  • The 7-string pentatonic lyre is the top choice for healers. Every combination of notes creates natural harmony, so you can play intuitively without any training.
  • 7 strings also correspond symbolically to the 7 chakras, making it a natural fit for energy work.
  • Sound healers use lyres alongside singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks to create layered sound bath experiences.

How practitioners use it:

  • Before meditation: Play 2-3 minutes of free-form lyre to help you (or your clients) drop into a meditative state faster.
  • During yoga: Gentle background playing during savasana or restorative poses.
  • Sound baths: Layer lyre harp with singing bowls and chimes for a multi-textured experience.
  • Personal relaxation: Simply strumming before bed can improve sleep quality significantly.

More About Our Lyre Harps

The wood of a lyre harp has a significant impact on its tone, resonance, and aesthetic. Here is a guide to the tonewoods in our collection:

Mahogany (most popular)

  • Produces a warm, rich, full-bodied tone with excellent resonance.
  • The most praised wood type across all price tiers. Customers consistently describe the sound as "warm," "soothing," and "room-filling."
  • Beautiful reddish-brown grain that ages gracefully. Available across most of our 16-string and 19-string models.

Okoume

  • High-density African wood with a mellow, sweet tone.
  • Excellent projection for its weight. Produces a slightly brighter sound than mahogany.
  • Featured in our 16-String Okoume Lyre ($109.90).

Rosewood

  • Bright, articulate with long sustain. Preferred by musicians who want notes to ring out clearly.
  • Premium tonewood with rich visual grain patterns.
  • Featured in our Hluru 17-String Rosewood models.

African Yellow Sandalwood

  • Balanced, warm tone with natural acoustic properties that enhance clarity.
  • Lightweight and visually striking with golden-yellow hues.
  • Available in our adjustable 17/31-string models.

North American Hard Maple

  • Bright, clear, cutting tone that projects well in larger spaces.
  • Dense hardwood that delivers crisp note definition.
  • Ideal for performances and ensemble playing.

Spruce

  • Classic instrument soundboard wood used in guitars, violins, and harps for centuries.
  • Excellent volume and projection with a balanced, clear tone.
  • Featured in our Cega 19-String Spruce models.

Cherry + Walnut (combination)

  • Cherry provides warm mid-range while walnut adds depth and darker overtones.
  • Visually stunning two-tone appearance.
  • Available in our premium adjustable 17-string models ($119.90).

Our recommendation: If you want the most universally loved tone for relaxation and sound healing, choose mahogany. If you want brightness and projection for performance, choose maple or rosewood.

Every lyre harp we sell comes with a complete starter kit so you can play right out of the box:

  • Tuning wrench (essential for tuning your strings to the correct pitch)
  • Learning guide / user manual with tuning chart and basic playing instructions
  • Spare strings (most models include at least one full spare set)
  • Picks / plectrums (varies by model - some include multiple types)

Depending on the specific model, you may also receive:

  • Gig bag or carry case (included with many models, essential for travel)
  • Cleaning cloth for maintaining the wood finish
  • Stickers for string identification (helpful for beginners)

Replacement strings:

Yes! We sell replacement string sets for 7, 10, 16, and 19-string lyres, priced from $14.30 to $17.90. We also carry replacement tuning pins and rivets ($19.90 for 10 pieces) if you ever need to repair or upgrade your hardware.

Tip: We recommend keeping a spare set of strings on hand at all times. Strings can occasionally snap during initial tuning (especially if over-tightened), and having a backup means you never miss a playing session.

The lyre harp blends beautifully with other healing instruments. Here are the most popular pairings our customers use:

Lyre Harp + Singing Bowls

  • The sustained resonance of a singing bowl creates a deep foundation, while the lyre adds melodic movement on top. This is the most popular combination for sound bath practitioners.
  • Explore our crystal singing bowls and Tibetan singing bowls.

Lyre Harp + Tuning Forks

  • Tuning forks provide precise single-frequency vibrations that complement the multi-tonal richness of the lyre. Use the forks for targeted chakra work and the lyre for ambient backdrop.
  • See our tuning fork collection.

Lyre Harp + Koshi Chimes

  • Koshi chimes add shimmering, bell-like overtones that weave beautifully through lyre melodies. The combination creates a layered, ethereal soundscape.
  • Explore our Koshi chimes.

Lyre Harp + Gongs

  • For powerful sound bath sessions, a gong provides deep waves of vibration while the lyre offers gentler, melodic contrast. This dynamic range keeps listeners deeply engaged.
  • Browse our gong collection.

Lyre Harp + Ocean Drums & Rain Sticks

  • These percussion instruments add natural textures (waves, rain) that pair perfectly with the organic feel of a lyre. Great for nature-themed meditation sessions.

Many of our sound healing customers build a complete toolkit over time: lyre harp for melody, singing bowls for sustained resonance, and chimes or forks for accent tones.

Lyre harps are one of the most meaningful and unique gifts you can give. Here is why our customers love gifting them:

  • Visually stunning: With their elegant carved designs and warm wood tones, lyre harps are beautiful decorative pieces even when not being played. Many customers describe them as "looking like an artifact from antiquity."
  • Instantly rewarding: Unlike guitars or pianos that take months to learn, the recipient can create beautiful sounds on day one. This makes it a deeply satisfying gift for people of all ages.
  • No experience needed: Perfect for someone who has always wanted to play music but felt it was "too late to learn." A lyre harp removes that barrier completely.
  • Complete package: Every lyre ships with tuning wrench, learning guide, and spare strings - the recipient has everything they need to start immediately.
  • Emotional impact: Customers regularly tell us their recipient was moved to tears when opening the gift. It communicates thoughtfulness in a way few other gifts can.

Best gift picks by budget:

  • Under $100: 7-String Mini Lyre ($99.90) or 7-String Mahogany ($99.90) - compact, beautiful, beginner-perfect.
  • $100-$150: 16-String Mahogany models ($109.90) or Moon Lyre 8/11/15-string ($109.90) - more range and stunning designs.
